I bought this coat for my husband for Christmas and he absolutely loves it. I ended up giving it to him a week before Christmas and he has worn it everyday since then. We live in Chicago and the bitter cold has set in. This coat is super warm with a durable, water resistant shell. The hood is very warm as well, he likes that the fur is removable. My husband is 5'9, 180 lbs so I got a large and it fits very well. The plethora of pockets is great, too. It has an adjustable stretchy cord on the inside around the waist if you want to make it more snug in that area. So far it seems like very good quality and will hold up well. No complaints whatsoever. North Face has a similar coat for about $300...so glad I kept looking and got this one instead for half the price! Great buy!Warm and nicely made . Zipper is of poor quality and will probably fail in a few months.Actually I would evaluate the article 4.5, but it is not possible. The parka is very warm, comfortable and functional. However - this is the reason why I do not give 5 stars - I find the style a bit old fashion and also some aspects as the zippers or the fur could be improved.Anyway, compared with other similar products, the price/performance ratio is surely very attractive, in particular if you are considering the functionality (and not for "elegance") of the article. So far all is great! Item was as described, arrived quickly. Haven't had many cold days yet, but so far on days down into the thirties, was able to be out for about four hours running light errands with just an a shirt & t-shirt underneath while still being warm ^_^ very nice indeed.Breast & bottom pockets are roomy with no issue reaching in with gloves on.Inner pocket is at the perfect location if you wear a bag with cross strap (bag strap across your chest). The hood is very functional, with the proper cords to tighten, angle and space your hood just the way you want it.Will revise if anything negative or positive. Vereeerrrrrrry happy with my purchase.!!I bought this coat for a trip to Tromso, Norway, 350km north of the Arctic Circle. Throughout my trip there temperatures ranged from -6C to -12C and often I was outside for hours on end either in boats in the Fjords, watching the Northern Lights, snowshoeing up mountains, or just walking around the city. Whatever I asked of this jacket it responded. It handled the heavy Arctic winds without any issues and kept me warm, often with as little as a t-shirt underneath. This is truly a great parka! This coat does the job! I’m a dog walker in the North East and with temps in the negatives and low teens this coat is like a toasty sleeping bag. I literally feel nothing but warmth. The deep pockets keep my hands warm with or without gloves. I’m a size 6, 5’3 lady so I got a men’s medium for layering room. I probably could have got a small but I’m pleased. Super warm coat without dropping $500-900. #WINNINGThis is a good quality and very warm down coat, I like it. I'll give it 5 stars if the style was more modern.Good quality. The only thing I wish to improve is that the coat is very heavy. I wish the shell is made of some fabric lighter but still water resistant. The parka I was sent was probably only a 2 star at best as stitching on front loose in several places, no down on one shoulder or between shoulders at rear and a massive hood with no adjustments possible to hood.I returned it to a shop and noticed the ones there were a slightly different design. The shop one had good adjustments to make it smaller, an extra pocket, the waist drawstring toggles in a different place so don’t dig in to sides, and importantly had more down fill over shoulders and back. The cut was also slimmer around the body so not as much air volume to heat, still plenty of room though but looked much neater on. So I exchanged it rather than take a refund. The newer one has since been to Scandinavia in -20c, I wore only a long sleeved base layer underneath and still felt warm even with biting winds, don’t forget insulated trousers though! It’s been out in blizzard and several bouts of pouring rain and been completely dry. Stops winds too. The hood is very well padded and cinches down to be tight around the head. The hood is so thick it’s difficult to hear people speaking but saves needing a hat and keeps the wind and rain out.The only problem is the usual one where you go indoors and the jacket is instantly too warm, also any strenuous activity and you start to sweat so not too great for shovelling snow! None of that is the parka at fault, I just have to be careful to select the right jacket for the occasion. Standing around or walking and the parka warmth is brilliant. For less cold I tend to use a light down jacket but it’s too short and doesn’t protect thighs or rear end, the parka does that admirably though and is about 5cm longer than the older version. Extra protection so great in my book.I do think the zip could be a bit chunkier ideally as impossible to do up with gloves on, but seems decent and has an extension toggle to assist.I would say this is the warmest coat I have ever used so limits how much of the year it can be used for and may be too much of a coat for some people, but it laughs at most bad weather conditions so gets a thumbs up from the dogs!If the zip was chunkier I’d give it 5 stars as it’s less than half the price of the North Face etc. equivalents. Just make sure you get the version with hood adjustment on the rear, check the fill, check the stitching. Otherwise a great buy!Mountain warehouse weren’t kidding when they called this “Extreme”, it is phenomenally warm. This is not a coat for Autumn, anything less than freezing conditions and it starts to get uncomfortable pretty quickly. This is designed for cold weather, I would advise make sure you actually need this before buying. As an amateur landscape photographer I spend a lot of my time standing around in the cold, this coat never lets me down but to be honest unless you’re outdoors a lot for the UK winter this is probably overkill for most people. It’s very comfortable, albeit heavy (nearly two kg) and somewhat bulky. It’s great for walking but I wouldn’t want to do anything too strenuous wearing it. It has lots of external pockets of various sizes and one zipped internal pocket that is good for phones and so on. I’d like to have seen another internal pocket but it’s a minor issue. My wife tried it on and found it very warm and comfortable but with the hood up and the weight she found it quite claustrophobic. That doesn’t bother me but something to be aware of.The coat construction is very solid. Everything is decently finished and put together, although I’d like to see more adjustment in the hood. The only real issue (and the reason it loses a star) is the flimsy front zip. It’s tricky to fasten the coat with bare hands, in good light, in-doors. The minute the conditions start to deteriorate it turns into a right pain. Plus it’s too thin for the weight of the coat - I can see it getting broken easily if I’m not careful. It really needs to be heavier and with a much bigger pull toggle so it’s easier to use in gloves.Fit wise, I take a 42” suit jacket and I ended up with a medium. Large was far (far!) too big for me. In an ideal world the sleeves would have been half an inch longer but once you’re in gloves it doesn’t really matter. I tend to wear it with a base layer and fleece - I’ve not found myself needing anything thicker. It’s probably not the most fashionable coat out there and I’m sure you’d be able to get something from the North Face or similar that performs as well and looks a bit nicer but not for this money. Highly recommended.Great coat, but only for cold days, 5°c max or much colder. I really like the coat, but the down comes out, and looks like white cat hairs on a black fleece, if worn, my only gripe really, as I really enjoy wearing it. Certainly won’t be cold ever again with it on. It should be noted it is Quite a heavy coat.Warm..Comfy..smart..Few minuses..The cord that tightens the hood snapped right off at the first try withing 5 secs on putting it on..Had to make a big knot and force it through the tiny hole..Hopefully that keeps it in place..A few loose strings all over..Nothing major..And a few gaps where the fur lining attaches to the hood...For the price ..Though..Good stuff.I travelled to Iceland without a jacket like this and swore that I would never be that cold again. I have only had the jacket for a short time but have taken it out on a couple of day trips in the Scottish Western Highlands in February weather. It's about as good as it gets for the price. That said my son has a similar jacket made by a company that charged considerably more for his jacket and in terms of quality, warmth, wind and rain resistance, other than price there is little or no difference at all.
