The Privateer R features a nylon and rubber co-moulded outsole for durability and improved grip on rocks or roots. The reinforced toe box boasts a rubber toe-guard for improved durability yet comfort reigns supreme with a supple microfiber upper, two straps and a micro-ratcheting buckle. Those features, combined with the stiff and efficient nylon outsole, create a shoe that rivals the performance of more expensive composite designs. Other highlights include aggressive lugs for improved traction, toe spike compatibility and a supportive EVA footbed.
Ethylene Vinyl Acetate sole
high-quality, breathable microfibre
Thread for spikes at the tip of the foot
25% stiffer than conventional nylon soles with the same weight
Love these shoe! Bought my 1st pair of Giro mtb cycling shoes back in 2012. I used mrb shoes for road cycling because they are not as stiff as a road shoes. I'm suprised my Giro Reva's held up for 7 years. But it was time to upgrade, as the sole started talking to the heel last week. I ride at least 1500 miles a season. June to Oct.Before I bought the privateer model, I decided to try another reputable brand; But I came running back to Giro as the Pearl Izumi's version were flat and clunky and not as appealing as the electric blue color.Fit wise, I had to go up a size from previous, Giro Reva [from 42 to 43]. The insole that came with it is perfect. The color is perfect to make all the other cyclist on the road jealous. And to make me a little bit more visible to cars.Still need to break them in, feet hurt a bit.
